Location
Whale’s Way Ocean Retreat is situated in Wilderness at the heart of the Garden Route and it is within easy reach of all the major attractions of this beautiful coastline. The international airport of George is only 20 minutes away, with Cape Town 460km to the west and Port Elizabeth 240km to the east.
We are located on a dune above the Indian Ocean and enjoy excellent views of the dolphins and whales, during the season. A ‘boardwalk’ staircase is an easy walk away that takes you down to the beach below.

Directions
Travelling from Mossel Bay / George in an easterly direction on the N2 towards Knysna:
- Stay on the N2, passing the turn-off to Wilderness on your left.
- Cross the Touw River and continue driving for about 3 kilometres.
- Turn right at the Wilderness Beach Hotel.
- Turn left at the small roundabout behind the Caltex garage and follow the signs to Whale’s Way on 6th Avenue – ‘Sesdelaan’.
Travelling from Port Elizabeth / Knysna in a westerly direction on the N2 towards Cape Town:
- After passing the sign for Wilderness, continue driving for 3 kilometres.
- Turn left at the Caltex garage adjacent to the Wilderness Beach Hotel.
- Turn left at the small roundabout behind the Caltex garage and follow the signs to Whale’s Way on 6th Avenue – ‘Sesdelaan’.
